The weather was kind to us for the Annual Club Championships although the wind was a little 'gusty'. Once again, there were some excellent scores; particularly from the two juniors, Ben & Nia. Nia was shooting in her first year as a club member. Ben's score of 900 was over 150 points better than a qualifying score for a Junior Bowman and Nia's was also well above the qualifying score for a Junior lady, shooting well above their levels of handicap.
Apart from winning the junior trophies, both were the main contenders for the other championship awards. Ben just pipped Nia for the overall handicap trophy by 5 points. *They were both shooting so well that each scored the highest dozen at the middle distance of 102 so the winner was decided by the second highest dozen which was shot by Ben with 100 against Nia's 98. During the round, Ben shot 77 golds out of 108 arrows and Nia shot 67. At the shortest distance, Nia shot four perfect ends of six golds, gaining revenge on Ben by 4 golds to win the Mediaeval Crossbow Trophy - between them carried off six of the main trophies! Amazing!!
Tony McIntosh retained the Gents “Argent” Cup, just short of another Bowman score. Sue Brown retained the Ladies “Quoits” Cup, shooting Barebow. Stuart's score of 315 with his longbow equalled his own personal best.

For the fourth time of asking, we managed to complete the round. Once again it was agreed that the competitors could choose their own National Round.  The choices were a National, Long National or New National.  The weather stayed dry but rain was forecast to begin at around 4 o'clock so this was a consideration and a concern.  Luckily, we only had a few spots and the round was completed in good time. Both Ray Harris and Chris Brown, who shot the Long National, scored above their handicaps.
